Basketball is one game both men and women love for a lot of reasons. A few of them would be, for men, basketball is a game that is tied to them even when they were just kids. It’s the first sport their dads would teach them. Fathers get a sense of pride when their kids know how to play it and even more if they play it really well. Women on the other hand love the sports not only because they can play it too, but also because it gives them a way through a guy’s heart and desires.

NBA is the most popular men’s professional basketball league in the world consisting of franchised member clubs. It’s timeless and people never get tired of watching it. It’s a good sport to watch, easy to learn, thus good to make a bet into. Activities For N H L Players Off The Ice

Activities For N H L Players Off The Ice http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Many fans are amazed to learn that NHL hockey players are just as busy off of the ice as they are on it. Some of the activities that NHL players are involved with are possible because they are members of the National Hockey League Players’ Association. The NHL players are assisted in their activities by the NHL Players’ Association too, which is always considered very helpful.

When NHL players are off the ice, they get to meet hockey players of the past through the NHL Alumni Association. What better way to refine the skills of playing the sometimes brutal game of hockey than to spend as much time talking to people that made a career out of the sport and have many tips to offer on how to handle various situations that crop up during an NHL game.

Some of the activities that NHL players enjoy the most are the award ceremonies that they get to attend and these awards are possible because they are awarded by the National Hockey League Players Association. These precision goal blockers and hard hitting skaters are awarded for achieving many things. When they reach the 1,000 career game mark, someone in the background is planning an award ceremony.

There are other awards that are included in the activities that are sponsored by the National Hockey League Players Association. NHL players get recognized for such things as when they reach the 600 assist mark. When they have earned more than 1,000 points in their career, you can bet that there is an engraver in town that is busily preparing a trophy for that career mark perhaps many weeks ahead of schedule.

Goaltenders appreciate being recognized for the tough job that they do for their NHL team and after 500 games, the awards they are presented are certainly earned. Perhaps the NHL has an angle to keep players motivated because the awards do not stop there. There are significant milestones such as 25 shutouts that motivate NHL players to win their games with no doubt in anyone’s mind.

Some of the activities for NHL Players off the ice might hinder their ability to be on the ice under contract with the NHL. Every sport has a mandatory performance enhancing substances program and NHL players are tasked with unannounced drug testing several times a year. NHL players do not mind this sort of activity because it makes sure that everybody on the ice is in the best physical condition for every game with any type of enhancements that could affect their health.

San Francisco 49ers Tickets – 2008-09 Season Review

San Francisco 49ers Tickets – 2008-09 Season Review http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The 49ers finished 2008-09 with a 7-9 record, good for second in their NFC West, one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. They had a -42 point differential and a -17 turnover differential. Usually, those are signs of a miserable existence. Yet, most Niners fans walk away from the season with a feeling of optimism, an overall sense that things are getting better. The season was turbulent, but the 49ers showed they were capable of fighting through adversity and succeeding. San Francisco 49ers tickets ought to spike in popularity at the beginning of next year. Here’s how the season went, and where the Niners might want to take things in the near future.

Schedule Breakdown
Mike Nolan began the season with a loss to the Cardinals at home, but then won two in a row, including a nice, near-blowout win over Detroit. However, things quickly went south. Nolan and the Niners lost four in a row (to the Saints, Patriots, Eagles and Giants), while giving up over 32 points per game. While the teams they were loosing to were more than decent, the 49ers needed a change. Mike Singletary, previously the assistant coach, was promoted to head coach when Nolan was fired. At first things weren’t going well with Singletary either. The Niners lost badly to divisional opponent Seattle, and then dropped a frustrating Monday Night game to Arizona, a team they needed a win against to keep playoff hopes somewhat alive. At this point, the Niners were 2-7. The Arizona loss made the coaching staff look foolish with their play calling on the potential game-winning drive. Players were getting called out, coaches were dropping trough, and with Prop 8 barely passing the Bay Area mood was snappish to say the least. But those were the darkest hours before the dawn. San Fran rallied behind their new leaders, Shaun Hill and Mike Singletary, and won five of the last seven, including a last-second victory versus Washington which seemed to mirror in reflex the last-second loss to the Cardinals when the Niners were reeling. Truly, it was a tale of two cities, the best of times and the worst of times, in San Francisco. Ending strong made all the difference, though, which should be evident in next year’s San Francisco 49ers tickets sales numbers at http://ift.tt/2gmMkPk.

Stats Highlights
Despite missing a few games, Frank Gore finished the year with his third-straight 1,000 yard rushing effort. He gained 1,409 yards from scrimmage total, scored 8 touchdowns while fumbling six times. Offseason pickup Isaac Bruce led the team in receiving with 835 yards and seven touchdowns. Patrick Willis continued tackling like it was his job, notching 109 on the year. He also had an 86 yard interception return for a touchdown. Rushing defense was one of the team’s strengths.

Stats Lowlights
There were some ugly stats this season. Perhaps the most ghoulish was the 55 sacks the 49ers gave up- the most in the NFL. In a related note, J.T. O’Sullivan threw 11 interceptions in 9 games. Shaun Hill’s 8 interceptions in 9 games were only slightly less awful. This led to a turnover differential of -17, the second worst in the league.

Possible Offseason Moves
The 49ers were coming together near the end, but they still lacked a few things which could be improved over the offseason. If the 49ers want to shore up their turnovers they might want to invest in some offensive line help. It’s not as though Hill and O’Sullivan were making excellent decisions all season, but the sacks, knockdowns and hurried passes sure didn’t help. Frank Gore will probably continue to cough the ball up about every other week, but the interceptions just killed this team’s chances of getting to the next level. The 49ers should draft an O-lineman or two, then try like hell to get Tim Tebow (Steve Young 2.0) in the 2010 draft.

The preceding article was written by Brent Warnken and sponsored by one of the most popular places to get sold out tickets, StubHub.com . If you are looking for San Francisco 49ers tickets , or sports tickets like baseball tickets, basketball tickets, football tickets, soccer tickets, college sports tickets, or even concert tickets and theater tickets, Stubhub.com is your best bet.

Hockey Betting – How To Win Every Time

Hockey Betting – How To Win Every Time http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

When it comes to sports betting, many people assume that it’s a 50/50 shot towards money. If you’re wagering on just two teams, yeah it seems like that, but that’s not the way you’re going to make money. When people assume the likelihood of winning is only a matter of 50% odds, they’ll back both teams and take a small loss to see if they will gain some money in the long term. This is a dangerous way of playing, and you probably won’t get any action from a serious booker. Now, if you’re looking at hockey betting and are wondering how to win every time, you’ll have to put money down on spreads, or at least know who’s going to win in advance.

Most people assume that you can’t know who’s going to win ahead of schedule, which is slightly true. The professional gamblers of the past that legitimized the art of winning money by putting down money on the performances of teams knew there was a system. There is always a system of winning that is not being talked about by many in the industry. If you can tap into any winning system, wouldn’t you? What if you couldn’t lose?

You see, every sport is played by human beings. Human beings can be manipulated, and controlled and knowing just that aspect of sports will carry you far. If you know that someone is sick, or someone has a weak wrist or arm before the game, or something is going on behind the scenes that is causing them to not focus on the task at hand, you will see money. It’s insider information like this, which is often times ignored by sports fans because they just look at the games, the numbers and the actual gameplay. Getting insider tips is the only way to make sure that you’re not losing often.

Insider tips are not always hard to find, they are often times right in front of your face. They are found by investigating the team’s newsletters, blogs, and fan sites. Most often the work has already been done for you, it’s just a matter of finding out what info you can get on any given team, then applying it to the match up. If you have a team that has just gotten over the flu, or a star player in the midst of a divorce, you need to know this and whether it will cause them to stumble during a game.

If you have insider information you will never lose, but if you’re just a casual hockey fan, you’ll lose more often than not.

Seattle Seahawks Eager to Notch Victories for their Fans

Seattle Seahawks Eager to Notch Victories for their Fans http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The state of Washington is the home base for the Seattle Seahawks. This NFL team plays in the western division of the National Football Conference. The Seattle team is known for their ability to put on a stunning performance and it begins with their surprising entrance onto their home field. Many people will purchase Seattle Seahawks tickets just to watch as the football squad is led out of the stadium tunnel by a soaring Aqur Hawk, named Tania. The 2008 season and 4-12 record was a stunning reversal from the division victories the Seahawks have been posting for the previous 4 seasons.

The Seahawks have the distinction of being the only NFL team to have ever played in championship title games for both the NFC and the AFC. This is a fact that makes the team’s fans extremely proud. When they tell others that their “Hawks” are the best, they are able to point to the team’s impressive record in both conferences.

Seahawks Through the Years

Today the Seahawks are one of the dominant squads in pro football. They have claimed the NFC title in 2005, and they have won the NFC West Division championship every year from 2004-2007. In 1988, the team played in Super Bowl XL and almost took the crown home. Since 2002, fans with Seattle Seahawks tickets have enjoyed attending the games at the Qwest Stadium, which is a spectacular, state of the art sports facility.

In 1972, there was a concerted effort by a group of investors, including the Nordstrom family, to land a new NFL franchise for the west coast. This time the home base would be the city of Seattle, WA. The franchise was granted to Seattle Professional Football, Inc in 1974. In 1976, the relentless work of fans and investors had paid off, and the Seattle Seahawks football team played their first professional game.

The Legendary Kingdome Fans Earn Their Stripes

The Kingdome was the first site for the Washington state team to play and the crowds made all games sellout events. Fans bought all Seattle Seahawks tickets and their loud, boisterous cheers transformed the huge sports complex into the loudest and most electrifying setting in the NFL. The noise was once so deafening that the NY Giants were forced to make 11 false starts in a game that they ended up losing to the Seattle Seahawks.

This pro football club has several ways to stir the fans and create additional excitement. The team has also given official recognition to the loyalty and enthusiasm of their fans. They have done this by making fan support an honored and important part of the activities.

As a tribute to their supporters, the Seahawks decided to retire the number “12” from their lineup. Then they sold team jerseys bearing that number but instead of a player name on the back these jerseys are usually distinguished by the word “Fan”. The number “12” is also on a special stadium flag that is now ceremoniously raised for each of the team’s home games.

2009 Seahawks want to be at the Top of the Division Standings Early

The 2009 will be led by a new coach and there will also be new faces on the roster. Seattle Seahawks tickets will once again be hard to find as loyal supporters rally behind their hometown favorites. When Tania leads the new lineup out onto the field of Qwest stadium, the loud cheers of the Seahawk fans will echo in the ears of the players. The team is going to be determined to once again reassert their claim as “top dog” in their division.

5 of the Greatest NHL Players of All Time Including the Great One

5 of the Greatest NHL Players of All Time Including the Great One http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

There have been many outstanding NHL players in the leagues history. Here are five of the greatest of all time, including the “Great One.”

Do you know “The Great One”? In the world of hockey, that can only refer to Wayne Gretzky. While Gretzky has retired from the NHL, his skills and love for the game live on in today’s NHL teams, such as the Calgary Flames. While Gretzky was arguably the greatest NHL player in the league’s history, he is among the best of the best that have ever played professional hockey:

1. Wayne Gretzky

No “best of the best” list of NHL players is complete without “The Great One.” Gretzky’s accomplishments during his career include:

* Four Stanley Cups
* Nine-time NHL MVP
* Jersey number (#99) permanently retired throughout NHL
* More than 60 NHL records
* NHL all-time leading scorer
* Two Canada Cup MVPs

Born in Ontario Canada, at the age of three-years-old, Gretzky received his first pair of ice skates. Gretzky mastered his skating skills on his personal ice rink.

2. Gordie Howe

Howe was an ironman on ice. In fact, his nickname “Mr. Hockey” is actually a registered trademark. Howe played the most games in the NHL’s history. Eleven different Halls of Fame have inducted Howe. A “Goldie Howe Hat Trick” refers to a trifecta that differed from the standard definition of three goals in a single game. Instead, the Goldie Howe Hat Trick includes one goal, one assist, and one won fight. Interestingly, Howe only had one Goldie Howe Hat Trick during his illustrious career.

3. Mario Lemieux

Like Wayne Gretzky, Lemieux had amazing speed and elegance on the ice. Born in Montreal, Canada, Lemieux began playing hockey at three-years-old! Then in 1984, he became the NHL’s first overall pick. He earned the nickname “Super Mario” during his hockey career. Lemieux won two Stanley Cups, and retired with 613 goals and 881 assists. He also won the hockey gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, representing Canada.

4. Bobby Orr

Orr was born in Ontario, Canada. He started playing hockey soon after he had begun to walk. Orr earned the highest salary of any NHL rookie in history, receiving roughly $ 25,000 per year. He also became the first NHL defenseman who was also potent on offense. Orr led the Boston Bruins to two NHL Stanley Cup championships (1970, 1972), while he won the defenseman MVP eight consecutive years. During his NHL career, Orr also helped to launch the NHL Players Association.

5. Maurice “Rocket” Richard

Born in Montreal, Richard started to play hockey shortly after he mastered walking. He mastered his skating on a rink behind his home. Richard became famous for his goal-scoring and hard-hitting on the ice. He led his team, the Montreal Canadians, to an impressive eight NHL championships. One of Richard’s greatest feats during his career was racking up 50 goals in 50 NHL games. Richard entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961, one year after retiring.

There has been one “Great One” in NHL history, along with other great ones. Use NHL merchandise to cheer on your favorite NHL team to the great Stanley Cup!

NHL Scoring Machine: Phil Esposito

NHL Scoring Machine: Phil Esposito http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Though his scoring records have been obliterated by Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, former Boston Bruins/New York Rangers center Phil Esposito is still regarded by hockey cognoscenti as one of the greatest offensive players in the history of the game. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, as is his brother Tony Esposito who was a standout goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Esposito was signed by the Chicago Blackhawks as a teenager. After some time in junior hockey, he was called up to the NHL in’64 quickly earning a spot on the teams top line between Bobby Hull and Marcel Dionne. In’67, Esposito was traded to the Boston Bruins along with Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield.

It wasnt long before Esposito started to destroy long standing NHL records. In’69, he became the first NHL player to top the 100 point mark (combined goals and assists) for the season”he obliterated the record with 126 points, which would be the first of six times that hed top the century mark. He topped 100 points in five straight seasons between’71 and’75, missing a sixth straight season by a single point with 99 in’70. Bruins fans were fond of displaying car bumper stickers that read Jesus Saves; Esposito scores on the rebound.

Esposito’s greatest single season was in’70-71, when he destroyed the NHL’s single season goal scoring mark with 76. That record stood until Wayne Gretzky of the Edmonton Oilers broke it in’81-82. Even now, only four other players including Gretzky have scored more than 150 points in a season and only five others have scored more than 76 goals in a season. Perhaps the most amazing element of Espositos game was the frequency with which he put the puck on net”Espo had 550 shots on goal in’70-71. No one has since come close.

In’75, Esposito was traded to the New York Rangers where his experience, intelligence for the game and nose for the puck made him a valuable component of the Broadway Blueshirts offense and he was named team captain. Until the very end of his career, he remained a dangerous scoring threat that all opposing teams were forced to reckon with.

After his retirement in’75, he remained active in hockey. He served as the GM of the Rangers before helping secure an expansion team for Tampa, Florida in’92. Esposito served as the President and GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning until’98. Esposito now hosts a daily hockey radio show on XM Radio, and has even done some acting appearing in a recurring role as a fire chief on the TV series Rescue Me.

Ross Everett is a widely published freelance writer and highly respected authority on baseball betting. His writing has appeared on a variety of sports sites including sportsbooks and sportsbook directory sites. He lives in Northern Nevada with three Jack Russell Terriers and an emu. He is currently working on an autobiography of former interior secretary James Watt.

History Of NHL Jerseys

History Of NHL Jerseys http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

An interesting way to trace the history of the NHL is to explore the many different NHL jerseys that have evolved over the years. Today, official NHL merchandise holds its own in the sports apparel market, offering numerous colorful selections to choose from. A growing trend in the official NHL merchandise market includes the purchase of vintage NHL jerseys. This allows you to further admire the changes that this intense sport has undergone.

Amateur hockey teams flourished before 1904 until the first professional NHL league was born. Although quite popular throughout the rest of the world, especially Canada, it was the United States that first brought the sport to the professional level. Tucked away in the mining region of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, the start of the International Pro Hockey League blossomed. Three years later, it was no more. In its place, the National Hockey Association (NHA) was established.

In 1910, there were four professional hockey teams on the rise: the Montreal Canadians, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Wanderers and Toronto Arenas, which is now known as the Maple Leafs. The main characteristics of their NHL jerseys were long sleeves and stripes. The Toronto Arenas were the only team to sport a solid blue jersey with white trim.

The league slowly made its way to the United States in 1924. The first team in the states was the Boston Bruins. The NHL jerseys associated with this team was a solid brown color with gold trim. At this time, the Hamilton Tigers showcased an NHL jersey with numerous thin lines of black and gold on their sleeves.

As the 1930s rolled around, ultra-skinny lines of alternating color were seen in teams, such as the Chicago Black Hawks and the Detroit Falcons. Stars highlighted the NHL jerseys of the New York Americans red, white and blue color scheme.

During the 1940s, the New York/ Brooklyn Americans folded and the NHL was reduced to only six teams. It is now that we see the emergence of more and more colored pants, as well as a variety of home and away NHL jerseys.

In 1950, we see the Black Hawks move from a barber pole appearance in their black NHL jerseys to a red jersey with an Indian head on front. This is the start of the official NHL merchandise we see associated with the Black Hawks of today. It was in 1955 that the Bruins became the first team to introduce the color gold in their NHL jerseys. The tweaking of home and away NHL jerseys is also continued.

During the 1967-68 season, the league expanded from six teams to twelve. Newer teams embraced a wide assortment of colors, including orange, sky blue, green and purple in their NHL jerseys. This was a radical change for official NHL merchandise during the 60s. The 70s brought along the Buffalo Sabres with their blue, white and gold colors, as well as the Vancouver Canucks, which used a color scheme for their NHL jerseys similar to Seattle Seahawk jerseys.

As the 80s came into history, official NHL merchandise began to showcase manufacturer logos on their apparel. Companies, such as Nike and SandKnit cashed in. This gave the basis for providing official NHL merchandise per company associations. This is also a common practice today, which often causes higher prices of NHL jerseys based upon their affiliations.

During the 90s, the interest in hockey spread further and newer teams began to pop up in other parts of the country. Teams in Dallas, Phoenix and even Miami made their mark. A business deal to broadcast hockey on television is solidified. Now, NHL jerseys were able to grace your television screen. A third NHL jersey was created, which was set aside for Saturday games or special occasions. Different shapes and NHL jersey designs emerged. Specialty patches are created. Nameplates are used.

In the 2000s, we see more and more expressive and colorful logos plastered on official NHL merchandise. The players of today should respect the evolution of NHL jerseys that never had the radical designs of the Dallas Stars, the logo of the Florida Panthers or the assortment of colors presented in the Los Angeles Kings or the Might Ducks of Anaheim NHL jerseys.

James Johnson, loves the NHL and everything about it. NHL Jerseys are the best merchandise to buy for following your NHL team .

The Birth of Denver Colorado

The Birth of Denver Colorado http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

From a small mining town, Denver has grown not only for its historical settings, but due to its various nature parks and sports teams. As currently one of the vacation hotspots in the US, it also boasts of elegant and classic hotels.

Denver City first started as a mining town during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush in Western Kansas. Denver was founded in November 1858. During that summer, a group of gold prospectors from Kansas arrived. They established Montana City on the banks of the South Platte River. This was the first settlement. Later on, it became the city of Denver. General William Larimer, a land speculator from Eastern Kansas, named the place after Governor James W. Denver.

Denver now boasts of over 200 parks. This is from some small parks to the giant parks all over the city. These parks have become the tourist spot in the area. This city maintained and acquired around 14,000 acres or about 56 km2 of mountain parks like the Red Rocks Park.

The Red Rocks Park is famous for its beautiful scenery as well as musical history which revolve around the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Denver also has the Winter Park Resort ski area which is operated in Grand County, about 67 miles west of the city. Hence, it continuously develops its park system along the Platte River and in the Stapleton neighborhood redevelopment.

Denver is at the threshold of the Rocky Mountains. Its skyscrapers mark the evolution between the Great Plains and the American West. The Rocky Mountains majestic peaks can be observed from afar and is still clearly visible. It is obviously a haven as well as the obvious point of arrival for thrill seekers that are heading into the mountains. Mountaineers, hikers, bikers, rock climbers and even trekkers will find the terrains a different experience, surely changing your life with the experience. The 2,000 acre land can offer you ample time for any escapade on your list of activities.

For those who are more of the scholarly type, you can visit the Denver Art Museum which houses the premium collections of the American Indian’s artifacts. Another destination for kids would be the Denver Zoo, Children’s Museum and the Botanic Garden. Aside from all these, you can inquire about the United States Mint for a free tour of the county.

Memorable sights can really make your stay in Denver worthwhile. Staying in Top hotels will cost much but the service you will receive is high end. Cheap hotels or motels can offer you good services at a more economical price for the family. This is good for couples or even those who travel alone. These days where practicality is a wise step, people can save some extra money when they seek cheap and good hotels.

As a hot spot for travellers and for vacation trippers, the City of Denver also boasts of its remarkable history, sporting events and museums. This is one reason why it is known as the “Mile High City”. The reason for this nick name is the elevation of the land which would go at approximately 5280 feet or 1609 meters above sea level. Statistically, it is the 26th most populous city in the United States of America. It is also the second largest city in the Mountain West, next to Phoenix.

Hence, Denver is very famous for its sports teams. In fact, they have four major sport teams. This includes the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Their current home is the Invesco Field at Mile High. Their team won a back to back championship in the years 1998 and 1999. Another team called Coors Field of the Major league Baseball was also created by the former Mayor, Frederico Pena. The Colorado Rockies, on the other hand, represent an expansion franchise in 1993. Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League Ave won two Stanley cups, in the years 1996 and 2001. Thus, the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association, the Denver Outlaws of the Professional Outdoor Lacrosse team and the Major League Soccer team named Colorado Rapids are also other teams that Denver is proud of, making every season a sports season in the region.

6 Key Players That Have Made the St Louis Rams “Ram-Tough”

6 Key Players That Have Made the St Louis Rams “Ram-Tough” http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The St. Louis Rams have recently won the Super Bowl. However, several players have played outstandingly during the franchise’s history.

Sometimes success comes sooner, rather than later. After playing in Los Angeles from 1946-1994, the NFL’s Rams moved to St. Louis. Within half a decade, the Rams had earned their franchise’s first Super Bowl, by defeating the Tennessee Titans, 23-16! While most of today’s Rams fans know the names Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk, you might be unfamiliar with all of the players whose jersey numbers the Rams have already retired:

1. #7 Bob Waterfield (Quarterback): 1945-1952

Waterfield played for the Rams while they were located in both Cleveland and Los Angeles. In 1945, he became the first rookie to win the NFL MVP. Additionally, the league selected Waterfield for two Pro Bowls, and to the NFL 1940s All-Decade team. Waterfield also played as a punter and place kicker!

2. #28 Marshall Faulk (Running Back): 1999-2005

In 1994, Faulk was the #2 overall pick in the NFL draft. He became successful in the NFL, as a powerful and speedy rusher. During his NFL career, Faulk ran 12,279 yards (4.3 yards-per-carry average), and scored 136 total rushing and catching touchdowns. The NFL selected Faulk to seven Pro Bowls.

3. #29 Eric Dickerson (Running Back): 1983-1987

During his senior year at Southern Methodist University, Dickerson finished third in Heisman Trophy balloting. He then had a stellar career in the NFL, from 1983-1993. Dickerson’s career statistics are impressive: 13,259 yards rushing, 2,137 reception yards, and 96 touchdowns. The NFL chose Dickerson for five Pro Bowl teams.

4. #74 Merlin Olsen (Defensive Tackle): 1962-1976

Before he was a spokesperson for a flower company, Olsen delivered bone-crushing tackles to his opponents. Olsen played all 208 of his NFL games, with the Los Angeles Rams. He became part of the Rams’ defensive line, whose nickname was “The Fearsome Foursome.” The NFL selected Olsen to an astounding 14 Pro Bowls.

5. #78 Jackie Slater (Offensive Tackle): 1976-1995

Slater played for both the Los Angeles and St. Louis Rams. Both Slater and Darrel Green of the Washington Redskins hold the NFL’s record for the most seasons with a single team (20). In addition, the league selected Slater to seven Pro Bowls. The NFL also chose him four times as the NFL Offensive Lineman of the Year.

6. #85 Jack Youngblood (Defensive End): 1971-1984

Youngblood once stated that “…if you want to do a job bad enough, you’ll find a way to get it done.” Indeed, Youngblood “got it done.” His NFL accomplishments include:

* 7 Pro Bowl games
* 6 All-Pro teams
* 1970s NFL All-Decade team
* 3 Rams MVP
* 1975 NFL Defensive Lineman of the Year
* Pro/College Football Hall of Fame

Youngblood also holds the Rams team cored for the most consecutive games (201). In fact, in 14 years in the NFL, he only missed a single game!

Indeed, the Rams have recently achieved their greatest success in the NFL. However, several players have played outstandingly, throughout the franchise’s history. Use St. Louis Rams merchandise to cheer on the team to another Super Bowl victory!

Missouri is the “Show Me” state, location for the Twin Cities and it is the headquarters for the St Louis Rams. This trail blazing NFL sports team has been quickening the pulse of fans for generations. The name and the stadium for the squad may have changed over the years, but the spirit and enthusiasm of the original Rams organization continues to be an inspiration. Today some of the boys that watched some of the original Rams in action are enthusiastically purchasing St Louis Rams tickets and returning to the stands with their grandchildren and great grandchildren by their side.

Although the club has had their up and down seasons, it has been constantly been one of the favorite sports teams for many football enthusiasts. Supporters rally around this team each year, and high sales figures are a given whenever there are any St Louis Rams tickets being offered. The dynamic plays and “Never Give Up” mentality demonstrated by the Rams can always bring the crowds to their feet.

Tracking the St Louis Rams Through History

1936 was the first year that this team played, and at that time, they were based in Cleveland, Ohio. This football team is considered to be close kin of another Cleveland Rams group that was once a member of the American Football League. When this Rams team reformed, it had only 4 of the original players and no member of the former management staff. For this reason, it was considered to be a new team.

Dan Reeves, the owner of the team in 1946, moved the football club to Los Angeles, California and the Rams became the first NFL club on the Pacific coast. The former Cleveland Browns were now known as the Los Angeles Rams. From 1980 to 1994, the team was moved to Orange County and played in Anaheim, California. By the time the 1995 season opened, the Rams moved to St Louis, Mo.

Surprisingly many of the team’s most devoted fans are often unaware that the Rams were the ones who began the practice of using football scouts. Eddie Kotal was an employee of the Rams in the 40s. He was the first one who began to check out potential talent and recruits throughout the United States as a pro scout. Kotal made a point of finding the best players no matter what college they were attending. One of his most prolific hunting grounds for new draft picks was at black colleges. Some of the legendary pro players could very well have gone completely unnoticed had it not been for Kotal’s involvement.

Rams are Ready to Rock the Field

During most of the years that the franchise has been in existence, this team has been one that attracted large numbers of fans. The 2009 season is anxiously awaited by many who have their St Louis Rams tickets already in their hands. An extra edge of excitement has been created by rumors of which highly touted college player will be selected when the Rams use their 2nd pick position in the draft. The Detroit Lions will get first shot at the long list of hopeful recruits but the Rams have several players in mind who can help strengthen their on-field play.

The Three Worst Seasons of the San Francisco 49ers Should Cheer Up Their Fans

The Three Worst Seasons of the San Francisco 49ers Should Cheer Up Their Fans http://ift.tt/eA8V8J

When will the San Francisco 49ers strike gold again? After capturing five Super Bowl championships (1981, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1994), the 49ers have been striving to return to the “big show” again. Since their last NFL title, they have earned spots in the playoffs, during seven seasons. That has included three division titles and two NFC championship games. If you are disheartened about the 49ers current performance, remember that the situation must get worse before it gets better. Here are the 49ers’ worst NFL seasons:

1978-1979 (2-14 record)

The season started with promise, but ended in a waterloo. Prior to the start of the season, the San Francisco 49ers had made some major trades. In particular, they had traded some of their draft picks, to acquire O.J. Simpson, star Running Back from the Buffalo Bills. During the 1973-1974 season, Simpson had earned an NFL record of 2,000 rushing yards. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury caused him to miss the majority of the season and to earn a meager 593 yards. Quarterback Steve De Berg compounded the problem, tossing nearly three interceptions for every touchdown thrown. Head Coach Pete McCullery earned a miserable 1-8 record. McCullery’s replacement, Coach Fred O’Connor, then racked up an awful 1-6 record.

1979-1980 (2-14 record)

After the failures of Coach McCullery and Coach O’Connor, the 49ers changed their general once again, by hiring Bill Walsh. Eventually, Walsh would coach the 49ers to three Super Bowl victories (1981, 1984, 1988). However, his first season in San Fran resulted in a second consecutive 2-14 record. While O.J. Simpson’s last year in the NFL would be disappointing, the 49ers’ offense evolved into one of the best ones in the league. In particular, a rookie named Joe Montana was starting to warm up. During the 1979-1980 season, Montana tossed the pigskin 23 times, racking up 96 yards and one touchdown. The 49ers were indeed rebuilding their squad and were a work in progress.

2004-2005 (2-14)

A decade after their fifth and most recent Super Bowl title, the 49ers were a shell of their former selves. There was plenty of blame to go around, with the 49ers owner John York receiving much of it. How bad was the 2004-2005 season for the 49ers? Their victories included two wins over the same team–the Arizona Cardinals. To top it off, the 49ers needed overtime to beat the Cardinals. The first time, they edged them 31-28. Meanwhile, the second clash between the teams resulted in the same score: 31-28. Following the end of the season, the 49ers terminated Coach Dennis Erickson, and used Mike Nolan (son of ex 49ers coach Dick Nolan) to replace him.

Recently, the 49ers have found little gold on the gridiron. However, they continue to battle their way to the top of the NFL. By making the right moves on and off the field, the 49ers can return to the glory days of Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Ronnie Lott. The San Francisco 49ers is a well-known team – even by those who do not follow football – and play an exceptional game. The 49ers have won many championship titles and plan to continue their streak. Thanks to their season in 2008, there are some coaching and player changes taking place on the team this year, prior to the start of the 2009 season. These changes should bring nothing but passion, dedication, and – hopefully – a Super Bowl appearance.

The San Francisco 49ers plan to put on a great season for their fans, and the fans are ready for it. While final changes are being made and draft picks are being made, fans are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for tickets to go on sale. Like many other seasons, tickets for the 2009 season will be in high demand, leaving many wishing they had acting more quickly on the purchase of their tickets.

Right after WWII, there was a noticeable gap in the sporting industry. Most of the sporting industry was located on the East Coast, or in the Midwest, leaving the West Coast empty and with a lack of sporting entertainment. Anthony Morabito was determined to change this, and put the West Coast back on the map.

Anthony approached the NFL who quickly turned him down. Anthony was privy to information about the AFL and had caught wind that they would be forming in 1944. Being a smart businessman, Anthony aligned himself with the AFL at this time.

Morabito, along with his partners, worked hard at coming up with an identity – for this new team – that would be remembered and would last. This is when they came up with the name – the San Francisco 49ers. The name was derived as a memoire for the miners of the Gold Rush years. Surprisingly, a painting, on a railroad car, inspired the men to come up with this name (the painting was of a miner).

Morabito, after many years, finally got his dream – and NFL franchise – after the AFL / NFL merger, that is. Regardless, with the 49ers being and NFL franchise, ticket sales began to increase drastically, and the team began attracting fans at every game.

Over the past few years, the team has faced some tribulations. Early on in the season of 2007 their starting quarterback – Alex Smith – suffered a severe shoulder injury, putting him on the bench for 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately, this set the team back. He has; however, recently signed a new 2-year contract with the 49ers and will be back on the field for the 2009 season. He and the team are ready to show the world what they are made of – once again.

The 49ers have been playing football for over 60 years and have experienced many changes. They have accomplished much greatness such as five Super Bowl, 17 division, and five conference titles. As usual, 49er tickets will be hard to come by this year, as they will sell-out quickly. Fans are expecting one of their greatest seasons ever; they will not take the chance of missing seeing it firsthand.
