After an appeal to the court of arbitration for sports, the ban on the famous tennis star, has been reduced to 15 months from two years.

She was tested positive for meldonium in the Australian open 2016, after which the International Tennis Federation had banned her for two years. The five times Grand slam winner would be able to return to the tennis court on 26th of April 2017, on which she said that she is counting the days of her return and it is really a good feeling to have it back.

Earlier, she took the stance that she was not aware with the fact that drug has been banned by world’s anti doping agency.

The court of arbitration said that this case is not about an athlete who cheated, however it’s a failure of sharapova for not giving her agent relevant instructions to check the WADA check list. The court said that she failed to supervise and control her agent.

Her case was strong because she was using meldonium for last 10 years and there was no anti doping issue ever and no specific warnings were given to her or announced generally by the WADA, ITF and WTA for the change in the status of meldonium. The court gave her the favor for publicly accepting the responsibility and acceptance for using the banned drug.

Her fans now have to wait for just 7 months to see her again on the court.
