We need great old-fashioned simple cooking, and with all the studies out there telling us that living on the fast food will kill us and will increase our weight and the level of cholesterol, and lowering our life, we know already that we should not make dinner plan in drive through the line.

Not to mention that some of us are home cooking so many times would feel that we need to cook that something pre-packaged since we do not have time cooking all those healthy easy dinner recipes that the professionals are telling us to be our needs. On the other hand, you may be thinking that you cannot be a great cook.

However, we can feel overwhelmed, as we know that there is a way that we can do simple cooking at home. Knowing the steps will help you get started, getting you on the right track to much healthier eating, and learn being a great cook along the way.

1. Plan ahead for the nights that you know you will be late or will be extra busy keeping some “ready to go” easy food recipes and ingredients in your freezer, such as ravioli, vegetables, topping with spaghetti sauce, and adding salad that is already in your bag. You can have your healthy meals pre-made and in the freezer in the personal portions for future necessities.

2. You can keep some basic staples on hand or in the pantry. Examples may include whole or wheat grain pasta or rice, beans, vegetables, soups, and many more. At least it can be a “go to” when you are in a hurry, and it can be a healthy main or side dishes that can keep you away from the phone to make a call to the pizza guy.

3. Keep an easy-to-follow and on-hand cookbook for simple dinner recipes. Many of these cookbooks will be offering easy and quick meals for simple cooking that is already using healthier ingredients. On the other hand, you can also find a recipe that you like substitute one or two of the ingredients with something healthier. These ingredients may include swapping vegetable oil for the safflower oil that you use, swapping a butter for a spread that is free from cholesterol, whole grain pasta rather than the standard one, and many more.

4. Another tip to learn doing some simple cooking recipes is stocking your pantry and refrigerator with the healthier alternatives. You can often find them on the internet or some other searches. You can have equivalent or healthier substitutions for the standard ingredients such as sugar, butter, vegetable oil, and some other, and if you have them on hand already, you will be going to those anyway.

5. You need to have color in our plate. You can try the largest part on your plate to be vegetables, and the smallest part to be proteins, complex carbs, and meats. Besides, vegetables are much quicker and easier to cook as compared to breads and meats.

6. You should keep fruits on hand for desserts or snacks. They are naturally sweet already and they are healthier as compared to the chocolate cheesecake that you usually eat.

These are only few tips on quick and easy ways to simple cooking as well as eating healthier, even when you are in rush. After all, healthier foods are the easiest recipe that you can do for your simple meals. You should not be intimidated; do these simple things a little more at a time, and make it a habit and the norm.
