Rodrigo Duterte Philippine President made Friday a comparison between its bloody war against crime and extermination of Jews by Adolf Hitler, saying he would be “happy to massacre” a million drug addicts.
Duterte, 71, known for his foul language, also called “hypocrites” the United States and the European Union, which criticized its violent campaign against drug trafficking.
“Hitler massacred three million Jews and there are three million drug addicts (in the Philippines). I would be more then happy to slaughter them,” he said in a speech on Friday morning.
“But my victims, I wish they were all criminals in order to end the problem of my country and save the next generation of perdition,” he said.
The brand new Philippine president, came to power in May, he promised to kill tens of thousands of Philippine criminals with the aim to eliminate most if not all illegal drugs in the country within six months time.
Since the actual inauguration on June 30, more than 3,300 people died, most killed by civilians that followed the bloody rhetoric of President Rodrigo Duterte encouraging them to take justice into their own hands.
Numerous organizations defending human rights in that country and Western governments have strongly criticized this presidents policy.
Friday comparison with and or to Adolf Hitler, whose campaign was to eliminate Jews in Europe left more then six million dead at the end of World War II, unleashed still much more convictions.
“These statements are repulsive and President Duterte has to retract and apologize,” stated passionately president Ronald Lauder of the World Jewish Congress.
